Welcome !

Increased energy demand and industrialization accompanied by significant carbon di-oxide emission has resulted in considerable public interest in green energy. Policies like Renewable Portfolio standards (RPS) have been adopted by some US states that encourages adoption of renewable energy. The increased penetration of renewable energy sources like solar, wind would have significant impact on transmission planning and operation. Upgrading the electric grid to handle these variables is a challenge in power industry. One of the recent successful solutions has been upgrading the transmission system to a “Smart Grid” that facilitates renewable energy integration.

Existing grid system is becoming more congested due to lack of investment relative to generation and load growth. Numerous Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) based technologies have emerged offering a potential solution that increases reliability and utilization of Transmission and Distribution network. However the high cost, complexity, poor reliability of FACTS devices has inhibited their market penetration. Smart Wire Grid, Inc has the solution to the problem by the development of a low cost, highly reliable, simple device which are termed as “Smart Wires”. Please read the technology page for more information. You can also contact at the below address.

Targeted Market

Smart Wire devices offer effective power flow control which is cost effective, simple and reliable over conventional techniques of FACTS (Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System). Transmission line investment such as new line construction or re-conductoring planned for expansion can be deferred with the use of Smart Wires.

Targeted areas of application range from distribution voltage class to sub-transmission voltage class.

Smart Wires can save at least more than 50% over conventional transmission line upgrades

Should you need more information on the technology or implementation, please contact us.

Successful Implementation

The project is to be implemented in a transmission network identified by the utilities as potential areas of congestion. More information will be updated during various stages of implementation.
