Fred Buckman

Fred Buckman, Chairman of Smart Wire Grid’s Board of Directors

Fred has more than 30 years experience in the elecric utility industry. Most recently, Fred served as President of the Shaw Group’s Power Division. Before joining Shaw, he was the Managing Partner responsible for the utility sector at Brookfield Asset Management, a global asset manager focused on property, power generation, and transmission. Previously, Fred launched the first independent transmission company in North America, Trans-Elect, in 1999 where he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer over an 8 year period. From 1994 to 1998, Fred served as President and Chief Executive Officer of PacifiCorp, helping to lead its evolution from a regional utility into a significant international energy company. Before joining PacifiCorp, Mr. Buckman was President and Chief Executive Officer of Consumers Power Company, the utility subsidiary of CMS Energy. Fred also serves as a member of the board of directors for StanCorp Financial Group and SPG Solar. He received his bachelor’s degree in science engineering from the University of Michigan, received his doctorate in nuclear engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Stewart Ramsay

Stewart Ramsay, Chief Executive Officer

Effective as of November 15, 2011, the Company appointed Mr. Stewart Ramsay as the Chief Executive Officer of Smart Wire Grid, Inc. Stewart was formally President of CTC Cable Corporation, and the Company’s Chief Commercial Officer. Stewart has over twenty-seven years of U.S. and International public electrical utility experience. From 2007 to 2010 Stewart was an independent consultant in an executive leadership capacity with strategic planning, asset management, organizational transformation, and technical regulatory support to numerous utility and green energy companies. Stewart was Vice President of Asset Management and Transmission for Pacific Gas & Electric, a publicly-traded corporation (NYSE: PCG) from 2005 to 2007. Prior to PG&E, Stewart was Vice President of Distribution Asset Management for American Electric Power, a publicly-traded corporation (NYSE: AEP) and Senior Vice President for UMS Group, a privately held consulting group where he was responsible globally for both the Asset Management and Performance Management practices including a year as the Managing Director of European Operations. He has served on the Board of the WECC and was WECC’s representative to the Member Representative Committee of the National Electricity Reliability Corporation (NERC). Mr. Ramsay is a Member of the Expert Advisors Board of the California Emerging Technology Fund, a non-profit formed by the California Public Utilities Commission. He previously served on the Transmission Research Policy Advisory Committee for the California Energy Commission. He served on the Board of Directors of the Boundless Corporation, a private company providing advanced battery systems. Stewart currently serves on the Board of Coro Center for Civic Leadership and is the Chair of the Finance Committee of the Board. Stewart is a graduate of Northeastern University with a BSEE in Power Systems.

Woody Gibson

Woody Gibson, Chief Operating Officer and Founder

Woody is currently responsible for the launch of Smart Wire Grid, Inc. A visionary who specializes in pulling together great ideas, technologies, teams and strategic partnerships, Woody has been instrumental in co-founding over 14 technology start ups in the energy and environmental sectors. Most recently, Woody was the co-founder and Director of Zenergy Power plc where he also held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Zenergy Power, Inc. (formerly SC Power Systems, Inc.), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zenergy Power plc. Previously, he was the Founder and SVP of Business Development of Thorne Environmental, a US remediation firm where he was responsible for identifying and incorporating new technologies. Woody also served as General Manager/Special Projects Planner for International Technologies Corporation (ITX:NYSE) and played a major role in helping grow revenues from $2 million to $1 billion in 5 years through the acquisitions of new companies. Earlier in his career he was a consultant for Lloyd’s of London, managing marine salvage projects on behalf of Lloyd’s around the world. Woody started his career as a US Navy diver, and has a degree in marine engineering and an executive M.B.A. from Pepperdine University.

Chris Robine

Chris Robine, Chief Financial Officer

Chris Robine joined Smart Wire Grid in August of 2012 as Chief Financial Officer. Chris was formally with SPG Solar – beginning as Chief Financial Officer and was then quickly promoted to Chief Executive Officer. Chris has extensive leadership experience supporting growth and innovation in both large and small companies across multiple industries.Prior to these roles in CA, Chris had a 14 year career with General Electric (NYSE:GE) where he left GE Renewable Energy in 2010. At GE Renewable Energy Chris was the CFO of a multibillion-dollar solar and wind sales and service business. Prior to his tenure at GE Renewable Energy, Chris held the position of Director of Finance and Integration Programs at GE Infrastructure. Reporting directly to the CFO, Chris oversaw cross-functional teams responsible for restructuring projects across departments and industries. He resolved operational issues, implemented business growth strategies, and drove double-digit revenue and operating profit growth. Chris has also held a number of other prominent positions at General Electric divisions, including GE Water Technologies and the Corporate Audit Staff. Chris joined GE through the GE Capital Management Development Program, a post-graduate leadership program. He graduated from the Carl H. Lindner College of Business at the University of Cincinnati with a BBA in Finance and Management.

Julie

Julie Couillard, P.E., VP of Engineering and Customer Support

Julie Couillard joined Smart Wire Grid, Inc. in March of 2012. Julie is a Senior Executive with a strategic emphasis and record of innovative accomplishments and expertise within the energy / utility industry. Prior to joining Smart Wire Grid, Julie worked with CTC Cable Corporation (CTC) as Director of Transmission, serving as liaison between the factory and the customer, and working closely with customers on the design and installation of projects. Prior to working for CTC, Julie worked as a Senior Consulting Engineer for Exponent, Inc. Julie was the Chief Operating Officer for the nation’s first independent transmission company, Michigan Electric Transmission Company, LLC (METC), a Trans-Elect, Inc. Enterprise, from 2001 through 2006. Prior to working for Trans-Elect, Inc., Julie held numerous progressive engineering and supervisory positions in Transmission, Substation and Distribution areas of Commonwealth Edison Company from 1987 through 2001. Julie is a registered professional engineer in the State of Illinois. Julie is a graduate of DePaul University with a MBA in Finance and Ohio University with a BS in Electrical Engineering with a Power Concentration.

Jerry Melcher

Jerry Melcher, Director of Program Management

Jerry has over thirty years experience in the Electric Power Industry(1975-2011) and in high performance technology management including key positions with American Electric Power (AEP, 1978-1980), Landis & Gyr Systems(1980-1989), Product Manager in Tektronix from 1989-1993, Project Manager at EPRI(1994-2000), Exodus Communications, Manager, Data Center Services(2000-2002). He worked as Electric Utility Consultant from 2003-2011(Jerry Melcher LLC). He has extensive expertise in all aspects of the Power Systems and Smart Grid, including development, design, and implementation of operational HV FACT controllers, energy management systems, and field automation devices. Jerry has managed large FACT projects for AEP’s 100 MVA UPFC, industrial 70 MVA STATCOM for arc furnace steel mills and joint $13M EPRI-DARPA Megawatt Power Electronics program. His areas of Expertise include Smart Grid, Energy Management Systems and Controllers, HV FACTS and Power Electronics. He is also the Recipient of two EPRI President Awards. Jerry holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
